My Living Room is Ever a Construction Zone

Jonah and I stayed up late to ring in the new year with some friends last night. The adults played cards and the kids just played until midnight (which is usually not a problem for me, but last night I really had a hard time staying awake and giving much of a rat's patootie about my hand of cards...). After the ball dropped and the kids made lots of noise (Jonah didn't really get it. He wondered why he couldn't just go to bed...), I had to drive us home. I was perfectly alert by this time, having had a body-meet-ground episode in the slippery driveway on my way out to start the truck (ooooh I'm sore today). It took almost an hour to get home because the roads were slick, so it was 1:30 before I finally had my body-meet-bed episode.

We had to run out the door for church this morning, but this afternoon when Nathan went hunting, I happily sank into the couch and slept for two hours. Jonah played quietly on the floor right beside me, and he did disturb me a little a couple of times, but for the most part, he could have been building a nuclear reactor and I wouldn't have known a thing.

This is what I woke up to:

A mess, you say? Au contraire, I might reply.

Note the box-like airplane hanger in the front with books to act as tarmac, as well as the castle looming in the background.

I was informed that this is some sort of control tower/sanitation facility with a long pipe coming from it to dump the dirty water far away.

Note the orange-peel roofing shingles. Very "green", don't you think?

As for this:

Well, I have no idea what that is, but I'm sure it plays a vital role in this thriving civilization.

Most impressive is this little cabin (right at the end of the sanitation dump pipe, oddly enough).

Notice it's log-cabin style construction, lean-to additions, and the vaguely triangular roof.

In the background, you can also see a still-under-construction rocket launching project.

While I was sleeping, my little boy was busy.
