Fishing 101

When fishing...

...bait your hook well...

...and be patient.

Very patient.

When (and if) you get a nibble...

Reel it slowly...

...caaaaaarefullllly...

And then remove the hook.

And throw it back because it's too small.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

And throw it back because it's too small.

Throw that one back, too.

And that one.

Hold it up for a picture...

But throw it back.

Because it's. too. small.

Did you hear me?

I said it's too small. Throw it back.

And make sure to have a backup plan.

  1. Poor Jonah.
    At least he's catching something.
Childhood fishing for us always yielded zero- big or small.
Maybe that scummy lake needs some growth hormone in the water.

  2. Actually, Jonah thorghouly enjoyed the whole day. He screamed with delight over every little fish. Heck, he was even happy to come up with some lakeweed (and I got sick to death of picking that stuff off his hook). We've heard tales of people catching big fish in that lake... Maybe we'd have to take a boat out to the deeper water...

  3. I have to say, I have really LOVED your posts that show daddy and son. I have to show them to my hubby because he is having a hard time envisioning having a son. He keeps thinking it's going to be a terror like he was - lol - and wants a sweet girl like me.

I love reading while he is fishing. One of our favorite ways to hang out together.
